About Roller & Wrench

Roller & Wrench is a small, reliable team based on the Isle of Dogs in East London.

For the last five I’ve been working in and around the property maintenance and refurbishment world – first managing another company, and now running Roller & Wrench. Most of that experience has come from looking after homes and rental properties in real life, not just on paper.

The work started locally around the Isle of Dogs and Canary Wharf and has grown out across East, South East and North East London. Today, most of our day-to-day jobs are still close to home, but we’ll happily travel further across London.

Experience behind the name

Before Roller & Wrench, I managed another property services company. That meant dealing with the full chain: tenants, homeowners, private landlords, estate agents, contractors and suppliers – and seeing first-hand what goes wrong when the service isn’t right.

The patterns were always the same:

  • Trades not turning up when they said they would

  • Poor or vague communication with landlords and agents

  • Jobs finished “just enough” instead of properly

  • No photos, no notes and no record of what had actually been done

Roller & Wrench is my attempt to do that differently clearer communication, realistic expectations, tidy work and proper follow-up.

Working with landlords, agents and homeowners

Over the past few years I’ve worked closely with:

  • Private landlords – sorting long lists of small repairs, pre-tenancy refreshes and looking after properties so issues don’t build up between tenancies.

  • Estate and letting agencies – handling “can you just go and sort this?” jobs, providing photos and short reports so they can keep their clients informed without chasing.

  • Homeowners and tenants – fixing the everyday problems, finishing half-done DIY and freshening up rooms so spaces feel looked-after again.

That mix means I understand both sides: the person living in the property who wants minimal disruption, and the person responsible for the asset who needs things done properly and documented.

How we like to work

The jobs themselves can be very different – a loose hinge and a dripping tap one day, a full bathroom refit the next – but the way we approach them stays the same:

  • Turn up when we say we will (and tell you if we’re running late).

  • Protect floors, furniture and neighbouring areas before we start.

  • Do the job properly, not just “good enough for now”.

  • Flag anything unexpected early and agree next steps before adding cost.

  • Leave the place tidy, with photos and notes if you want a record.

Whether you’re living in the property or managing it for someone else, the aim is simple: practical work, done neatly, with clear communication.

Where we work

We’re based on the Isle of Dogs in East London, and most of our day-to-day work is across East, South East and North East London. Typical areas include Isle of Dogs, Canary Wharf, Limehouse, Greenwich, Bow, Stratford, Deptford and nearby neighbourhoods.

If you’re elsewhere in London and the job sounds like a good fit, it’s still worth asking as we likely work in your area too!

Want to talk through a job?

If you’re a landlord, agent or homeowner and you’d like a steady pair of hands for the practical side of looking after a property, the easiest next step is to send a few photos and a short description of what you’d like to sort out.
